Webinar Series on New Education Policy 2020
Decoding New Education Policy 2020: Discussions on Future Roadmap
The New Education Policy, released on 27th July 2020, is the third education policy of India. Successor to the earlier policies of 1968 and 1986, NEP 2020 is based on the recommendations of K. Kasturirangan Committee. As the world is now only a decade away from the aspirational Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) that countries aim to achieve by 2030, this policy is a crucial document to specially lay down the path for SDG 4.0 on “Quality Education”. With implementation of several schemes and laws in the last few decades (e.g RTE, Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan, Mid Day Meal Scheme), India has achieved some success towards improving access to school education and increase in the Gross Enrollment Ratio in higher education, we are still far behind the desired numbers required to improve the overall well being and meeting the demands of the young Indian population.
About this Series: MATRIX organized this webinar series as an initiative to decode the NEP 2020. We invited a diverse group of experts from the field of education to present their views and analysis of the various sections of NEP 2020. Each webinar had the speaker sharing his knowledge and detailed comments on the NEP which was then followed by a detailed and extensive “Q and A” session. The focussed sessions helped the audience members understand the fine details of the policy document and engage in a detailed discussion over each section. Each webinar was attended by a diverse set of audience, from practicing to aspiring teachers, curriculum and instructional designers, university professors and industry professionals.
